Tenement house - Rynek Staromiejski 33



The Family house of Samuel Thomas Soemmerring - the biggest anatom of the XVIII century.

In this tenement house on 28 january 1755 was born Samuel Thomas Soemmerring, Torun doctor's son. At first he was studying at academic Torun gymnasium, then he continued his studies on the Getynga University. In 1778 he wrote the doctorate work on brain anatomy. He wrote many scientist works (about 80 positions), and 6000 private lettres was preserved - and confirmed his large vast scientist contacts. He was among others inventer of the first galvanic telephone. After Nicolas Copernic is surely the most eminent son of Torun.
