The biggest Church in Bydgoszcz. The Church has a particular significance for Polish religious life and for Polish history. It is associated with “Solidarity Movement’s” legendary priest – Jerzy Popiełuszko.

The construction of the Church begun in 1970s. The Church complex (total area: 3.5 thousand m2) is composed of two churches. A copy of a painting of Black Madonna from Jasna Góra Monastery may be admitted in the first Church – Church of Visitation of the Virgin Mary. The second Church is Church of Polish Martyr Brothers. The Church is decorated with reliefs representing Polish martyrs from past centuries. The relics of the First Five Polish Brothers (murdered in 1003) which were brought from Prague are also located in the Church. Visitors should also stop for a moment to admite exhibits related to rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko who celebrated his last mass here. The Remembrance Chapel located next to the Church is also worth visiting. Currently, the Church changed its rank to the New Martyrs Sanctuary.
